Bhubaneswar, 17/11/2018: National Aluminium Company (NALCO) joined the Nation in observing Vigilance Awareness Week in its sites and offices with this year’s theme ‘Eradicate Corruption – Build a new India’.
The week-long programme began with the administering of integrity pledge among the employees. During the week-long celebration, elocution competitions based on this year’s theme were also organized among the school children, wherein more than 400 students participated from more than 100 schools of Bhubaneswar & Cuttack.
At the concluding ceremony of the vigilance awareness week, held at the NALCO Corporate Office today, Shri Asit Tripathy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Home Dept.), Govt of Odisha, graced as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, handed over the prizes to winners of various competitions that were held during the Vigilance Awareness Week celebration. In his address, Dr. Chand underscored the importance of effective vigilance system and termed it as a promoter of good governance. He also stressed on the value system and organizational culture to strengthen the vigilance mechanism. Dr Chand also briefed about the best practices and system study improvements implemented in NALCO for bringing total transparency in the eyes of general public.
At the outset, Shri Biswaranjan Samal, IAS, CVO of the company delivered the welcome address, while Shri A.K. Murthy, GM (Vigilance) proposed the vote of thanks.
It may be noted that as part of the ongoing outreach programmes, NALCO has been associated in a special drive for administrating e-integrity pledge and physical integrity pledge at different schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul and Damanjodi of Odisha, showing a way in for individual and group commitment to anti-corruption.
