Bhubaneswar, 18/09/2016: “Nalco is the dream of the people of Odisha and we are committed to realize the dream. The company is not only a partner in the industrial progress of the State but also empathetic towards social well-being and cares for the environment”, said Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, while visiting the Bhubaneswar based Open Leaning System – a school for the differently-abled, yesterday. “Moreover, disability is not inability. Although disability poses some limitations but it cannot deny the right to dignity, aspirations and dreams. So, instead of pitying the lot of differently-abled, one should nurture their potentials through guidance and creation of opportunities”, expressed Dr. Chand. During the visit, Dr. Chand interacted with the special children and presented them educational kits and fruits. He was accompanied by Shri K.C. Samal, Director (Finance), Ms Soma Mondal, Director (Commercial), Shri V. Balasubramanyam, Director (Production), Shri B.K. Thakur, Director (HR) and other senior executives of the company. On the occasion wheelchairs were also donated to the school.

Prior to the visit, Dr Chand along with Directors of the company also participated in a mass plantation drive, organised by NALCO at the HRD Centre of Excellence, Nalconagar, Bhubaneswar. It may be mentioned that since inception the company has been laying emphasis on protection of ecological systems. So far, NALCO has planted about seven million trees and has also taken up avenue plantation along the National Highway from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack.
