‘Nalco takes up Stress-buster Exercise to Enhance Happiness Quotient’

Bhubaneswar, 28/04/2016: In an organization, stressful work environment takes a heavy toll on the efficiency and overall well-being of its employees. More so in an industrial set- up like Nalco, which is pitted against global players of high calibre on the one hand and the vagaries of international market on the other. So, to unwind its employees and enhance productivity, the aluminium major has started a stress management exercise at the beginning of the present fiscal.
In this context, a two-day workshop for top management concluded at the company’s HRD Centre of Excellence here on Thursday. This Self Management of Excessive Tension (SMET) workshop, based on Yoga and Vedic principles, was conducted by Padma Shri Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Chancellor, S-VYASA University and subject expert Dr. R.M. Acharya, in which Nalco’s Directors, Executive Directors and General Managers participated.
“Similar workshops shall be organized across the company to strike a work-life balance and rejuvenate our human capital,” said Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD of this Navratna company. Appreciating the Nalco collective for the excellent effort put in to achieve record production during 2015-16, Dr. Chand said that the company is fully focussed on enhancing the happiness quotient and ensuring wholesome growth of its human resources for better results in the present fiscal.
“For us, minding the machines and machining the minds – both are equally important. In fact, the output of a machine can be quantified and measured but the power of a man behind the machine, if tapped, can yield amazing results,” Dr. Chand added. Shri Dipankar Mahanta, Independent Director of Nalco had taken the initiatives in coordinating the workshop and appreciated the response of the top management in this direction.
