Net Profit higher by 58% compared to last quarter

Bhubaneswar:  National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU of Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, has announced the results for the 1st quarter ended June, 2014.

According to the reviewed financial results for the 1st quarter of the financial year 2014-15 taken on record by the Board of Directors in the meeting held in New Delhi on 13th August,2014, NALCO has registered a net profit of Rs.271 crores which is higher by 58% compared to last quarter.

On production front, during the quarter the quantum of bauxite, alumina and aluminium production were 14.04 lakh tonnes, 4.076 lakh tonnes and 79,240 MT respectively. In spite of reduced production level the company has been able to post higher profits due to improved specific consumption of coal, caustic soda etc.

The total alumina sale during the quarter was 3.15 lakh tonnes primarily in exports and aluminium sales was about 77,400 MT in both India and overseas markets.
