Yes,ProceedNALCO has endless contribution in the sector of healthcare. Renovation of public health centres; construction of heatstroke prevention rooms and sub center buildings; mobile health service and free medicine to periphery villages; free veterinary service to identified villages; assistance during natural calamities. Etc. – all these areas have been well considered by the company. It is to be noted that number of mobile health units in the periphery villages 43 a t Angul and 142 at Damanjodi. Besides the company conduct camps, treating patients free of cost from periphery villages. NALCO donated an ambulatory operation theatre van for animals to Department of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry (FARD), Govt of Odisha. The company in association with LV Prasad Eye Institute ( LVPEI) is setting up a modern eye hospital at Angul with an initial investment of 15 Cr. The hospital would cater to the economically disadvantaged groups of neighbouring villages.
NALCO’s 60 bedded secondary level care hospital at Angul is looking forward to renovating and installing hitech machines. NALCO has recently opened an Out Patient Department facility at NALCO Nagar, Angul under its periphery development programme, which is going to benefit 39 periphery villages. Opening of OPD facility at Damanjodi is under active consideration.
NALCO has contributed substantial amount in the health sector at Bhubaneswar and other places of Odisha such as development of Pediatric ward at Government Hospital Aska, donation of four ambulance and one dead body carrier Medical van to Help Age India, Bhubaneswar, financial assistance for the Medicine Bank of Indian Red Cross Society, Khurda Branch and donation of Laser-kit Eye-equipment for the S.S.B. Eye Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
