Bhubaneswar, 12/10/2015: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has instituted a State-level Award for the NGOs and Institutions, working for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the differently-abled children. The award shall carry cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a citation, which will be handed over to the winner during NALCO’s Foundation Day celebration on 7th January. Shri T.K. Chand, CMD, NALCO made this announcement while addressing the 20th Annual Day of the Institute for Helping the Disabled, at Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, Shri Chand said: “Disability is not inability. Rather, when one part of the body becomes disabled, other parts become more active. So, instead of pitying the lot of such differently-abled, one should nurture their potentials through guidance and creation of opportunities.”
Among others, Padma Bibhusan Shri Ramakant Rath, former Chief Secretary, Odisha, eminent educationists Prof. Santanu Acharya and Shri Pradyumna Mishra were present on the occasion. Shri Bhagirathi Panda, Secretary of the Institute coordinated the programme.
