Bhubaneswar, 28/01/2016: “In the employment index, EQ (emotional quotient) is now rated better than IQ (intelligence quotient). And all forward-looking industries, including Navratna NALCO, are looking out for wholesome personalities among the job-seekers,” says Shri Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD of NALCO.

Shri Chand was addressing as the chief guest at the 57th Commemoration Day celebrations of Prananath Autonomous College at Khordha, today. In Indian industries, 120 million skilled jobs are up for grabs in the next 4 to 5 years, Shri Chand informed. For enhancing the employability, he urged the students to strengthen ASK i.e., Attitude, Skill & Knowledge base.

“Each of these attributes, when mixed with the other, has a tremendous multiplying effect. Similarly, lack of any of these attributes, brings down the employability to a great extent,” Shri Chand said.

Employment generation should be the yardstick to measure the growth and success of any manufacturing company. In the Make in India campaign, MSMEs have a crucial role to play in generating jobs, Shri Chand added.

Among others, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT University, Shri Jyotirindra Nath Mitra, President of Governing Body, Dr. Pratap Kumar Das, Principal of P.N. College, spoke on the occasion. Shri Vivek Pattanaik, IAS (retd) was the chief speaker and Major Khirod Prasad Mohanty, former VC of North Odisha University was the guest of honour. International sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik was conferred the prestigious Prananath Samman on the occasion.
