    NALCO HOSTS REGIONAL MEET OF FORUM FOR WOMEN IN PUBLIC SECTOR (WIPS)

    Bhubaneswar, 06/12/2014:  National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU of Govt. of India, hosted the Regional Meet of the Eastern Region Chapter of Forum for Women in Public Sector (WIPS), under the aegis pf Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE). The meet was held at Mahanadi Nivas Auditorium, Nalco Nagar, Bhubaneswar yesterday.

    The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ansuman Das, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO, in presence of Shri S.S. Mahapatra, Director (Production), Shri N.R. Mohanty, Director (P&T), Ms. Soma Mondal, Director (Commercial), Ms. Amita Saha, President, WIPS, Eastern Region, Ms. Sanchita Banerjee, Secretary, WIPS, Eastern Region. Sushree Arati Devi, Sarapanch, Dhunkapada Gram Panchayat, Polasara Block in Ganjam District graced the occasion as the speaker.

    The theme of the Regional Meet was ‘Women in Pursuit of Swachh Bharat’. Addressing the gathering on the theme Sushree Arati Devi stressed on the role of women in achieving the target of Swachh Bharat.

    In his presidential address, Shri Anusman Das stressed on how women have achieved leadership positions in the corporate world by utilizing their talent and potential. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Soma Mondal highlighted the problems faced by working women and suggested the possible solutions to overcome these challenges.

    A panel discussion on ‘What is holding women back?’ was also organized on this occasion. Dr. Bijan Basini Mohanty, Retired Professor, Department of Personnel Management and Industrial relations, Utkal University, Ms. Paramita Mahapatra, Director on Board, IMFA, Ms. Sampa Chakrabarty Lahiri, HOD (Corporate Communications), Hindustan Copper Limited, Kolkata participated in this discussion as the panelists. Shri Sujit Mahapatra, Founder and Secretary, Bakul Foundation was the moderator of the panel discussion.

    Delegates from 12 Public Sector Enterprises in the Eastern Region and the lady employees of NALCO participated in the meet. While Ms. R. Vijaya Chakravarthy, AGM(Systems), NALCO delivered the welcome address, Ms. Sutapa Bhattacharjee, Treasurer, WIPS, Eastern Region proposed a formal vote of thanks. Ms. Geeta Mohapatra, Co-ordinator, WIPS and Manager, HRD, NALCO coordinated the programme. Ms. V. Anuradha and Ms. Neelima Kongari compèred and managed the proceedings of the meet.
