Bhubaneswar, 18/12/2015: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna CPSE, has instituted State-level awards to be given away every year to two eminent scholars for their contributions in the field of Sanskrit. The annual recognition, named Nalco Kalidas Awards, shall carry a purse of Rs.50,000/- each and a citation, to be handed over at Nalco Foundation Day celebration on 7th January. This was announced by Shri Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO at a national seminar on ‘India is the symbol of tolerance’, organized by Nirmalya, a socio-cultural association, at Puri today.
Addressing the distinguished guests and delegates from various states, Shri Chand said : “As a Nation, India is an epitome of tolerance. Our history is replete with instances where invaders have been subsequently absorbed in the poly-chromatic culture of the country.” The panel of distinguished speakers included Prof. H.K. Satapathy, VC, Tirupati University and Prof. Gangadhar Panda, VC, Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, Odisha.
Shri Chand was felicitated by various organizations on the occasion. At the outset, Shri Badri Mishra, President, Nirmalya introduced the guests, while Shri Biswanath Mishra, Secretary, introduced the topic and anchored the programme.
