NALCO joins hands for ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign

Bhubaneswar, 03/10/2014:  National Aluminium Company Limited(NALCO), the Navratna PSU under Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, joined the nationwide ‘’Swachh Bharat’ cleanliness campaign and undertook host of activities at its Corporate office, Operating Units and residential townships on October 2.

Apart from administering ‘Swachhta Shapath’ among the employees and cleanliness drive in its residential township & at Corporate Office, an awareness rally and street play were also organized on the occasion. Besides, as part of Swachh Vidyalaya campaign, Shri Ansuman Das, CMD, also launched the construction of toilets at the nearby Damana Govt High School and U.G.U.P School, at Bhubaneswar. Shri N.R. Mohanty, Director (P&T), Shri S.C. Padhy, Director(HR), Shri K.C. Samal, Director(Finance), Ms Soma Mondal, Director(Commercial), along with other senior executives, officials of NALCO Foundation and Headmistress & staff of both the schools were notably present on the occasion.

Moreover, as part of the campaign, NALCO also launched the construction of two more toilets at schools in periphery villages of its operating units at Damanjodi and one in Angul. It may be mentioned that NALCO has consented to be an active partner in this campaign launched by the Govt of India, and has identified more than 150 schools for providing sanitation facilities.

Similarly, ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaigns were also undertaken at company’s units at Damanjodi and Angul. Shri R.K. Mishra, Executive Director (M&R) and Shri S.K. Roy, Executive Director (S&P) administered the pledge among the employees at Mines & Refinery Complex and at Smelter & Power Complex respectively. To mark the occasion, employees, school children of DPS & SVM participated in large numbers in various awareness activities and undertook cleanliness drives.
