Bhubaneswar, 26/01/2019: Navaratna PSU NALCO joined the nation in celebrating the 70 th Republic Day with traditional pomp and ceremony. On the occasion, “Divyangs” were invited to perform a cultural programme and were also felicitated by Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD. The year 2019 has been declared by NALCO as the year of “Caring & Sharing” and in line with that NALCO shall be taking up a series of interventions to firmly stand with the less privileged people, said Dr.T.K.Chand. He added that NALCO shall become the title sponsor of the AjitWadekar Memorial East Zone Dibyang Cricket Tournament-2019, which will be held during 8 th – 10 th Feb 2019 at Bhubaneswar.

After unfurling the national flag, Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCOsaid ,” Nalco is a mini India with people belonging to different segments of the country, striving continuously towards making this Navratna PSU, the pride of the Nation.” He further said, “Since inception, NALCO has aimed to be a global leader and since 2015 it has started achieving global benchmark in Bauxite & Alumina production. Opening of Utkal-D coal mines will bring a turnaround in Aluminium production and will enable the company to climb the global scale. We have a dream to see our company to be a giant global player. Govt. of India has cleared our proposal to float KhanijBidesh (KABIL) to acquire mining assets abroad. It will be the second company after Oil Videsh of ONGC for acquisition of mineral assets abroad. Further our proposal to float a joint venture company with MIDHANI to produce high end aluminium is going to be cleared shortly by Govt. of India. We have our Corporate plan to increase Alumina production by one more million tonne and Aluminium production by 1.2 million tonne and to increase the turnover from the existing level of Rs. 10,000 crore to Rs. 30,000 crore. This year itself we are likely to register a gross turnover of more than Rs. 12,000 crore and a net profit of more than Rs. 1,600 crores. Globally Nalco is now leading from the front in promoting Aluminium as the Future Metal in International Aluminium Summits.”
