“NALCO KI LADLI” SCHEME LAUNCHED Under “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” Programme

Bhubaneswar: 16/08/2015:  National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU of Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, has launched ‘Nalco ki Ladli’ Scheme, to mark the 69th Independence Day Celebration. Shri Tapan Kumar Chand, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO announced the introduction of this new scheme under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ programme, initiated by Govt of India recently.

“NALCO shall promote meritorious girl-students from BPL families studying in the periphery schools of company’s production units at Angul and Damanjodi in Odisha,” announced Shri Chand, after hoisting the tri-colour at company’s Smelter and Power Complex in Angul yesterday.

It may be mentioned here that NALCO has always worked towards the development of Odisha State and the Nation, as a responsible corporate citizen. Since inception, the company has contributed Rs.4,981 crore to the State Govt and Rs.19,111 crore to the Central Govt towards taxes, duties royalties and dividends, besides allocating 2% of its net profit towards CSR activities.

Recently, as a PSU-partner in Govt’s Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, NALCO has spent around Rs.6 crore in constructing 433 toilets in 202 schools in Angul, Koraput and Vizag districts.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Chand said that NALCO would continue its CSR and welfare activities in an empathetic manner, for the social well-being. He also reiterated NALCO’s request to the State Govt to allot Pottangi Bauxite Block, which would not only boost the company’s growth plans but also its social commitment in that tribal belt.
