NALCO’s 2nd Quarter Net Profit Rs. 226 crore

calender10/11/2015

Bhubaneswar, 10/11/2015: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU, under Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India and country’s leading manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium, has declared its financial results for the 2nd quarter ended September 2015.

According to the reviewed financial results for the 2nd quarter of the financial year 2015-16 taken on record by the Board in the meeting held at Bhubaneswar today, NALCO has achieved net profit of Rs.226.14 crore, as against Rs.163.44 crore in the preceding quarter and Rs.341.52 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. The net sales turnover in the 2nd Quarter was Rs.1780.40 crore. Though there is a slump, it is heartening to note that NALCO has registered profits, in both the quarters of the present fiscal, despite entire global aluminium industry reeling under severe market slowdown and many companies reporting loss.

The net profit and net sales turnover for the half year ended September 2015 works out to at Rs.389.58 crore and Rs.3250.50 crore, respectively, as against the corresponding figures of Rs. 612.51 crore and Rs. 3606.63 crore achieved during the first six months of the previous fiscal.

On the production front, during the first half of the current fiscal, NALCO achieved a production of 28.39 lakh tonnes of bauxite, 9.21 lakh tonnes of alumina hydrate, while metal production was at 1.80 lakh tonnes. The net power generated during the period was 2843 million units. Besides, the company has generated 114 million units of wind power in this period.
