Dr. Chand, as the Chairman of CII (Odisha) and CMD of NALCO extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation on behalf of all the industries in Bhubaneswar and NALCO.

Led by Ms. Rupali Save, Trade Commissioner of Canadian Consulate General, Quebec States, the delegation including Mr. Kevin Williams, Vice President, Business Development, ADCL, Ms. Marie Lapointe, CEO, AluQuebec and Mr Francois Mousseau, Business Development Manager, STAS Inc, had a brief discussion with CMD and Team NALCO, on technological know-how for better productivity and cost reductions through innovative solutions. The meeting offered the delegation an opportunity of setting up of upstream and downstream industries in joint ventures in the upcoming Angul Aluminium Park. The delegation has responded positively to work out the details and termed the meeting to be fruitful. The visiting delegation was quite impressive of the efforts of Dr. Chand for his stellar role in NALCO’s rise as a top performing company, investment plans, acquisition of coal and bauxite mines. The delegation also visited the company’s Smelter Plant, located at Angul on November 11.

It is pertinent to mention that the Navratna CPSE is one of the leading foreign exchange earners of the country and has recently developed a New Business Model (NBM) for sustainable growth. The company is making consistent efforts for becoming major producer of aluminum at global level.

It may be mentioned that the per capita aluminium consumption in India is only 2.2kg against world average of 7 kg and 20 kg in China and there is huge potential for increasing the consumption of aluminium from existing level of 3.2 million tons per annum to 8 million tons per annum in next 2 to 3 years. Under New India mission, projects such as Smart cities, bullet train, power to every household, energy efficient automobile, aluminium wagons are expected to lead the expansion of consumption of aluminium in India.
